Community Storm Shelters 
 

FAQ's

Van Buren currently has 6 storm shelters located at schools throughout the Van Buren School District.  The shelters are unlocked for public use by the Van Buren Police Department in the event of tornado threats and warnings.  The Van Buren School District owns and maintains each facility, and all rules and regulations regarding public use of each facility is set forth by the school district.  Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the storm shelters, contact the Van Buren School Administration offices at (479) 474-7942.

The new King School opened for classes this year with a new storm shelter, and plans are also in place to open a shelter at Coleman Junior High sometime in the spring of 2012.
