**Van Buren Senior Activity Center now has a community storm shelter.  It is now open to the public in case of a tornado warning.

Van Buren currently has 7 storm shelters located at schools throughout the Van Buren School District and 1 storm shelter owned by the City of Van Buren located at the Van Buren Senior Activity Center.  The school district owned shelters are unlocked for public use by the Van Buren School District in the event of tornado warnings, and the Senior Center Shelter is opened by an on-duty officer.  The Van Buren School District owns and maintains each facility located on school premises, and all rules and regulations regarding public use of each facility is set forth by the school district.  Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the storm shelters, contact the Van Buren School Administration offices at (479) 474-7942.
